December 5, 1901 to December 15, 1966; Walt
Disney is a world renowned iconic businessman, cartoonist, animator, director, producer, voice actor, and
screenwriter. He was born in Chicago to his German-English mother and his Irish-Canadian father. Who would have
imagined the legend that was created when, in high school, he started his career as a cartoonist for the school
paper, focusing mainly on World War I since it was 1917. After a brief stint in Europe with the Red Cross, Walt
returned to the states and started his career, first with newspaper cartoons then into local advertisements. His
cartoons became incredibly popular but his first studio adventure, Laugh-O-Gram, fell into bankruptcy. Afterwards,
Disney moved to Hollywood to try again. After the success of Oswald the Rabbit, he had a falling out with the new
studio and subsequently found himself unemployed again. This time Walt and his staff created one of history's most
well-known animated characters - Mickey Mouse - and even lent Mickey his very own voice. The company that he
founded with his brother Roy, Walt Disney Productions later to become The Walt Disney Company, is one of the most
famous movie production companies in the world. During his life, Walt received 59 Academy Award nominations, won 22
of them, and even received 4 honorary awards. The entire roster of Disney's successful characters and movies is
almost too long to list. A year after his death from lung cancer, the Walt Disney Company broke ground on the Walt
Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

I resent the limitations of my own imagination.
The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else,
which makes you unique.
If you can dream it, you can do it.
Nothing is impossible.
I would rather entertain and hope
that people learned something than educate people and
hope they were entertained.
Disneyland will never be completed.
It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination
left in the world.

People often ask
me if I know the secret of success and if I could tell others how to make
their dreams come true. My answer is, you do it by working.

Crowded classrooms and half-day sessions are

When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.
No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will

I do not like to repeat successes. I like to go on to other things.
Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it's done right.
I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know

The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.
Our heritage and ideals, our code and standards - the things we live by and teach our children

Children are people, and they should have to reach to learn about things, to understand
things, just as adults have to reach if they want to grow in mental stature. Life is composed
of lights and shadows, and we would be untruthful, insincere, and saccharine if we tried to
pretend there were no shadows. Most things are good, and they are the strongest things;
but there are evil things too, and you are not doing a child a favor by trying to shield him
from reality. The important thing is to teach a child that good can always triumph over evil.

I have long felt that the way to keep children out of trouble is
to keep them interested in
things. Lecturing to children is no answer to delinquency. Preaching won't keep youngsters
out of trouble, but keeping their minds occupied will.
I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the

six or sixty.
