Success quotes page 4
Attitude, not Aptitude, determines Altitude.
Success is 20% skills and 80% strategy.
What is this thing - success?
It cannot be measured by the accumulation of money. Too many rich men are failures and
too many poor men masters at the art of living to make this the criterion.
As many arrows, loosed several ways, come to one mark... so may a thousand actions, once
afoot, end in one purpose.
William Shakespeare, Henry V
The old maxim: There are three things necessary to success in life - Impudence! Impudence!
Success, n. The one unpardonable sin against one's fellows.
The common idea that success spoils people by making them vain, egotistic and self-
complacent is erroneous; on the contrary it makes them, for the most part, humble, tolerant
and kind. Failure makes people bitter and cruel.
William Somerset Maugham
Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly.
John F. Kennedy
You can't get to the top of the ladder unless you leave the bottom. This is true in every
facet of life. Think of the people who are looking for a new relationship, but they still haven't
let go of the old one. Look at the people starting diet programs who just can't give up their
morning bagel with cream cheese.
Four steps to achievement:
William Arthur Ward
What we do and what we accomplish in life is only the tip of the iceberg of what's possible
for us. So I want you to think about some goals that you'd like to achieve and I'd like for you
to, let's say, break them up in three categories. Number one: I'd like to think about some
personal goal you'd like to achieve. And I'd like for you to think about some career goal, some
business goal that you'd like to achieve. And why don't you think about some social
contribution? Some impact you'd like to make with your life. It was Horace Mann who said,
"We should be ashamed to die until we've made some major contribution to humankind." I
believe we live in the greatest country in the world that gives us an opportunity to leave our
mark... to make a statement with our lives. And as you think about these goals, whatever
those goals are, I want you to dramatically increase those goals and I wanna warn you, I
don't want you to think about how you're going to do it. How is none of your business. The
most important thing is just to increase those goals dramatically. I found that most people
fail in life not because they aim too high and miss! Most people fail in life because they aim
too low and hit! And many don't aim at all.
The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and
pleasure use you. If you do that, you're in control of your life. If you don't, life controls you.
Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose.
You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What
you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and
to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.
Success will not be attributable to any one day, week or month but rather to the consistent,
persistent, succession of single days. Just keep your eye on your goal and continue to grow in
competence. Just concentrate on each task and do it as well as you can. One day at a time,
one task at a time. One at a time in their proper order.
To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your
highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don't isolate.
Criticism precedes admiration and - like it or not - goes hand in hand with success. Keep
pouring on the success, and sooner or later, the very same people who were putting you
down will be admiring you for what you have done.
Success is not a destination, it's a journey.
Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire.
Arnold H. Glasow
Real success is success of the soul.
Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success.
David J. Schwartz
All those who have accomplished great things in life, regardless of the field, have always
ignored the objections raised by strictly "rational" thinkers.
The first requisite for success is the ability to apply your physical and mental energies to
one problem incessantly without growing weary.
Thomas A. Edison
A great success is made up of an aggregation of little ones.
Every great man has become great, every successful man has succeeded, in proportion as he
has confined his powers to one particular channel.
Orison Swett Marden
There is only one success - to be able to spend your life in your own way.
Christopher Darlington Morley
Probably the most honest "self-made man" ever was the one we heard say: "I got to the top
the hard way - fighting my own laziness and ignorance every step of the way."
Nothing succeeds like success.
The only thing that ever sat its way to success was a hen.
Don't be afraid to make a mistake. But make sure you don't make the same mistake twice.
