Pablo Picasso quotes page 1

25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973; Pablo Picasso, full name Pablo Ruiz y Picasso, was a historically famous artist, painter, sculptor, print maker, ceramist, and even stage designer. Picasso is most well-known for co-founding the Cubist movement in art. Picasso is also responsible for the invention of the collage, among many other powerful art styles and movements. Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 in Spain. Piccasso was baptized with the name "Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Crispiniano de la Santísima Trinidad", but he would rarely go by his full title. Picasso's parents were of the middle class, his father a noted professor of art and an artist himself. In 1900, Picasso moved to Paris, though his devotion to art often left him penniless. His breakhrough wasn't until 1907, when he joined a newly-opened art gallery in Paris. Picasso had a number of famous works, and grew to be quite rich and popular during his time. While he is most well-known for his Cubist art, where images are formed and/or fragmented into many squares, circles, or other shapes, this was only the start of his work. "Guernica" is perhaps his most famous painting, depicting the bombing of the city Guernica. He donated many public pieces of art, including the "Chicago Picasso", a large statue that still stands in Chicago today. Pablo Picasso died in 1973, at the age of 91, while he and his wife were entertaining friends with dinner at their home.
